Travel program
Day 1 | Explore the capital of Finland
Arrival to Helsinki on own arrangements. A driver will transport you from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport to hotel Lilla Roberts located in the heart of Helsinki city center, where you will be staying tonight. Free time to explore the city on your own terms.
Day 2 | Visit historic ironworks of Fiskars Village on your way to Turku (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today your journey will continue towards the old capital of Finland, the beautiful city of Turku. A driver will pick you up from the hotel lobby. On your way to Turku, you are going to see the changing landscapes of southern Finland. Halfway through your drive, you have a stopover at the historical ironworks of Fiskars Village where you will have a guided tour. The driving time between Helsinki and Fiskars village is about 1 hour.
During a guided, ”The Past and Present” tour, a local guide will tell you about the history and traditions of the village, how you the key sights and provide you with a glimpse of Fiskars today as a village of artists, artisans and designers. The tour can be made either in your group’s own bus or on foot. Duration 1 hour. The maximum number of participants on a walking tour is 25. Languages available: English, German, Russian, Swedish.
After your guided tour, you are going to continue your way to Turku. The drive to Turku is about 1,5 hours. After arrival to your hotel Scandic Hamburger Börs, where you will be staying the next two nights, you will have the rest of the evening free time to explore Turku.
Day 3 | Explore Turku during the day, and in the evening board the Steamship Ukkopekka including a delicious archipelago dinner (B,D)
Breakfast at hotel.
A guide will come pick you up from the hotel lobby and take you on a tour around the historical city by private taxi. During this tour, you will be visiting Turku Castle, Turku Cathedral and Aboa Vetus Ars Nova Museum alongside hearing stories about the history of Turku. Turku Castle is a more than 700 year old historical monument. It has stood guard over the river Aura estuary since the 1280’s. Its granite stone walls hold within them the history of Finland, Sweden and the other Nordic countries. Turku Cathedral is the mother church of the Lutheran Church of Finland, and the country’s national shrine. It was consecrated as a cathedral (as the main church in the diocese) in 17th June 1300. Its history spreads thus over more than 7 centuries. Museum of Archaeology and Contemporary Art Aboa Vetus Ars Nova is situated in the center of Turku, Finland. Aboa Vetus’ archaeological site and exhibitions tell a story of the city. Ars Nova exhibitions are concentrated on contemporary art and on presenting the museum art collection. Duration 4 hours.
In the evening, you are going to experience the Archipelago of Turku via a steamship cruise to Loistokari Island. The pier is only a short walk away from the hotel.
During the summer evenings, steamship Ukkopekka sails from Turku to the fascinating island of Loistokari. There is everything you need for a wonderful evening: delicious dinner inspired by the Finnish archipelago with barbecue specialties, along with live music and dancing on the pier. The ship is filled with an unforgettable atmosphere and happy people!
After arriving at the island, you will be served a dinner buffet. A summer night in the Finnish archipelago would not be complete without a barbecue! The open-flame grill of Loistokari is about three meters long on which our crew will prepare barbecue specialties for up to 150 people at one time.
Live music will be playing throughout the evening on the cruise – not only on board, but also in Loistokari. Let the rhythm of the music and the magical atmosphere of the Finnish archipelago take you and dance on the pier!
Day 4 | Hop on the cruise towards Åland islands (B)
This morning you are going to wake up early and take a bus to Turku Harbour. You can eat breakfast at the hotel or request a takeaway breakfast if you want to. Viking Glory cruise ship is going to take you to Mariehamn. The ship leaves at 8:45 and arrives to Mariehamn at 14:10. Two archipelagos — the Ålands and the archipelago on Turku — softly diffuse together to form the unique landscape of the Baltic Sea shores. With the early departure, you get the best views and the best light during the time and a dynamic show in the evening. Spend wonderful time embracing the splendour of the sights. Onboard you can enjoy the various menus of different cafes and restaurants (not included in the price), do some duty-free shopping, enjoy the live entertainment and most of all enjoy your views to the amazing Archipelago!
After arriving to Mariehamn you will walk a short way to hotel Pommern, where you will be staying the next two nights. Evening free time.
Day 5 | Discover the gems of the Åland Islands – Castle of Kastelholm, Jan Karlsgård and the beautiful island (B)
Breakfast at hotel.
Today you are going to discover what the Åland island has to offer. A guided tour will take you around the island visiting the top attractions of Åland. During your tour, a guide will drive you to some of the most exciting places on the Åland islands. You will visit Kastelholm Castle, one of the best attractions in the Åland Islands. Just by the castle, you have a chance to explore the unique open-air museum Jan Karlsgården where you will learn how ålanders life looked back in the days. Besides historic buildings, the museum offers a view over water and an internationally recognized golf course. There is a chance to grab lunch or a cup of coffee if you choose so. During the tour you will also enjoy a delicious picnic.
There is also a possibility to visit one of Ålands apple farms or a local brewery where you can enjoy a pint of a special Ålands beer. To enjoy nature to the fullest, you might like to explore forest trails where you can spot wild animals, enjoy birdsongs, and more gorgeous views. Your guide will take you to some of their favorite secret locations around the island and ensure you get the best experience of Åland islands! Duration 7 hours.
Day 6 | Departure from Finland / Stockholm (B)
Breakfast at hotel. By your own choosing, you will take a cruise ship either back to Turku Finland or to Stockholm Sweden. Possibility to extend your stay. Flight home on your own arrangements. We hope you’ve had a wonderful time exploring beautiful Finland and the Archipelago!
