The responsible tour operator is Finnish Oy Kon-Tiki Tours Ltd, which is included in the tour operator register maintained by the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (1929/00/Mj Mv) in compliance with all general travel conditions in the tourism industry. Due to the special nature of our trips, exceptional regulations regarding the mode of transport (e.g. reservation and sales conditions for scheduled flights), exceptional accommodation conditions and the special conditions of the travel destination, we also apply special conditions, which the customer receives as an attachment to the trip invoice.

Oy Kon-Tiki Tours Ltd’s special terms and conditions

The general travel package conditions are negotiated by the Finnish Tourism Association (SMAL) and the consumer representative. The special conditions of Oy Kon-Tiki Tours Ltd supplement these conditions. The special travel terms and conditions of Oy Kon-Tiki Tours Ltd have been drawn up taking into account the directive on travel packages and combined travel arrangements (EU 2015/2302) and the act on combined travel services (901/2017/www.finlex.fi/fi /laki/alkup/2017/20170901) mandatory regulations.

General
The responsible tour operator is the Finnish Oy Kon-Tiki Tours Ltd (1929/00/Mj Mv, SMAL 39610) which is maintained by the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority registered in the register and comply with the general travel package terms and conditions (YME) of the travel industry https://www.kkv.fi/Tietoa-ja-ohjeita/Ostaminen-myyminen-ja-sopimukset/sopimukset/vakiosopimusehdot/yleiset- matkapakettiehdot/. Kon-Tiki Tours have set guarantees in accordance with the Act on Providers of Travel Service Combinations, and the guarantees cover all trips offered to consumers. Due to the special nature of our trips and exceptional regulations regarding the mode of transport (e.g. reservation and sales conditions for scheduled flights), we apply the special conditions recorded in this document in addition to the general travel package conditions. The passenger should carefully familiarize themselves with the travel conditions in their entirety. After paying the advance payment, the passenger accepts the conditions and undertakes to comply with them. We also remind you that we advise all travelers to ensure that their own travel insurance is already valid when booking the trip. This enables e.g. the fact that the passenger can apply for compensation from the insurance, e.g. cancellation costs. We recommend that you carefully check the terms and conditions of the insurance policy and the cancellation protection clause of the insurance terms when taking out the insurance policy: some policies may include a limitation of liability clause and this may result in an expansion of the passenger’s own liability.

Travel contract, payments and price changes
A travel contract is created when the passenger, after ordering the trip, pays us the advance payment by the due date. The final payment must be made no later than the due date specified in the invoice, which is typically 2 months before the start of the trip, but depends on the nature of the trip. On some trips (e.g. major sporting events), the final payment may be due earlier. If payment is neglected, the tour operator has the right to cancel the contract. If the trip is booked after the payment schedule related to the trip has expired, the entire price of the trip will be paid immediately.

The prices shown in the tour operator’s offers are based on the exchange rates and price level valid at the time of booking the trip. We reserve the right in accordance with Section 8 of the YME to future price, schedule and program changes to the travel program. The tour operator has the right to change the hotel to a similar or better hotel without any obligation to price reduction or compensation. We reserve the right to price revisions for reasons beyond our control, e.g. when fuel, official, destination country service or flight costs increase. Exchange rate changes are also included in this right. If the agreed group size decreases, we reserve the right to revise the price. The matter is always resolved on a case-by-case basis.

The amount of advance payment on our European trips is 400 euros/passenger. Due to the reservation conditions of the acquired services, the size of the advance payment may differ from the above sums on a case-by-case basis.

The passenger’s right to change the contract and hand it over to someone else
When the passenger uses the change and handover rights according to YME section 7, we charge the costs incurred for the changes and handover as well as the office fee. The passenger is responsible for the costs caused by the change, and the transferor and transferee are jointly responsible for the transfer.

Passenger responsibility and correctness of information
The passenger is obliged to ensure that they give their name and address information correctly when registering for the trip. When traveling by air, the name must match the names on the passport. The combined first name and combined surname must be entered in full. Other names are not needed unless specifically mentioned. The passenger is obliged to check the participation certificate and report any errors or omissions before making the payment. The time of ticket writing varies according to airline rules and depending on the journey. After the flight tickets are written, the airline charges a change fee for name changes and rewriting the ticket, the amount of which varies by airline.

Passport and other travel documents
A valid foreign passport is required for all our trips. Some countries require the passport to be valid for another 6 months after the trip. The passenger must ensure the validity of the passport, condition and e.g. sufficient number of blank pages. The tour operator is not responsible for the damage caused to the passenger, if their trip is prevented or interrupted due to insufficient travel documents, a broken passport or the refusal of a visa. The photo ID card issued by the police can be used as a travel document instead of a passport in certain countries, more information from the Police and Border Guard websites. Any tests, vaccinations, certificates, etc. required by health and safety are the responsibility of the customer.

During the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the traveler must independently take care of the certificates that the traveler needs for their trip in accordance with the requirements of each travel destination. These include, for example, certificates of a negative Covid-19 test, received Covid-19 vaccination protection or contracted Covid-19 disease. More detailed country-specific information is primarily available from the authorities of the destination country. Information is also updated in the travel bulletins of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the bulletins of Finnish embassies.

The contact person of the group
The group collector/travel manager is the contact person for passengers, unless otherwise agreed. The joint person has the right to agree on travel arrangements with the tour operator, binding on the passengers. The contact person is responsible for ensuring that the group members receive information about the travel conditions and other agreed matters YME 2.6.5.-2.6.6. in accordance with. We ask travelers who need a personal assistant to independently bring an assistant with them for the trip.

Travel insurance
Trips do not include cancellation insurance, passenger or luggage insurance. We urge travelers to also take out adequate travel insurance coverage for their luggage in case it is lost, delayed or damaged. Travel documents, means of payment, personal medicines and other particularly valuable or necessary property must be transported under the passenger’s own supervision throughout the journey. You can get more detailed instructions from your own insurance company. In addition, we urge our passengers to also check the cancellation protection clause of their insurance, especially if it is an annual insurance or an insurance tied to a payment card. In some insurances, compensation amounts are limited, which can result in an expansion of the passenger’s own responsibility. Since the travel insurance may include restrictions related to existing illnesses, we require everyone to carefully find out the coverage of their travel insurance in case they or a loved one gets sick.

Passenger cancellation rights
The trips of Kon-Tiki Tours are special trips tailored for groups or individual travelers. Due to the special nature of our trips, we apply different cancellation conditions to our trips from section 4 of the general travel package conditions. These cancellation conditions are followed regardless of the reason for the cancellation.

Free cancellation is not possible after prepayment.

* If the trip is canceled no later than 24.08.2024, the cancellation costs are €160/person.

* Cancelling on or between 25.08.2024 – 22.10.2024, cancellation costs are 50% of the trip price.

* For a trip canceled on 23.10.2024 or later, a cancellation fee of 100% of the trip price will be charged.

However, cancellation costs and cancellation time limits are always negotiated on a case-by-case basis, and in some cases the cancellation costs can be as much as the total price of the trip. In all cases, the tour operator has the right to collect, in addition to the office costs, the cancellation costs that the airline, accommodation company or other service provider (e.g. program services, concert, theater etc. tickets, safaris, excursions, costs resulting from underutilization of accommodation, etc.) collect from the tour operator (General travel package conditions 1.3. ). For special trips, the price of tickets and event fees is charged in connection with advance payment and is not refunded if the trip is canceled or if the tickets remain unused for reasons attributable to the passenger. Written airline tickets and access tickets or other special tickets cannot be cancelled. If the trip is cancelled, the special ticket reservation is also canceled automatically. For canceled tickets, the tour operator will charge the full costs. We always check the costs that may arise from the name change on an airline-by-airline basis. Missing names may lead to the cancellation of the flight seats.

Ask about Kon-Tiki Tours’ own special conditions regarding special events. The tickets that are included in the package are ordered depending on the destination from the ticket office. The prices charged by the ticket offices are clearly higher than the basic ticket price. The tickets show its basic price, not the purchase price. A price estimate is given when ordering. Tickets are not redeemable.

The effect of official regulations and exceptional circumstances on the travel contract
If the authorities of Finland, the destination countries or the travel route issue regulations or instructions affecting the execution of the trip after the travel contract has been created, the tour operator is obliged to inform the passengers about them. Official regulations are not considered changes made by the tour operator and they do not entitle the traveler to cancel their travel package contract, nor do they entitle the traveler to free cancellation if the tour operator is still able to carry out the trip in accordance with these travel conditions based on the regulations. If the passenger is prevented from traveling due to reasons arising from official regulations, the situation will be interpreted as a cancellation by the passenger and the cancellation and change conditions of the tour operator for the trip in question will be followed. Likewise, any additional costs caused by official regulations during the trip will be paid by the passenger as such and the tour operator is not responsible for these costs. The passenger does not have the right to cancel the trip free of charge if, when making the travel package contract, he was already aware of the Covid-19 pandemic situation or any other exceptional circumstances in accordance with Section 5.1.b of the General Travel Package Terms and Conditions.

The passenger does not have the right to cancel the trip free of charge if, when making the travel package contract, he was already aware of the Covid-19 pandemic situation or any other exceptional circumstances in accordance with Section 5.1.b of the General Travel Package Terms and Conditions.

Changes made by the tour operator
The tour operator reserves the right to make changes to the travel package contract in accordance with YME section 9.

Baggage
The amount of baggage that can be transported for free depends on the airline. You can take one piece of hand luggage into the cabin. On scheduled flights, the overweight charges set by the international air transport organization IATA/airline are followed. The passenger is responsible for compliance with the regulations regarding luggage and possible excess weight charges.

Disputes
If the disagreement regarding the travel package contract cannot be resolved through negotiations between the parties, the consumer can submit the matter to the Consumer Disputes Board (www.kuluttajariita.fi) for resolution. Before taking the case to the Consumer Disputes Board, the consumer must contact the magistrates’ consumer advisory service (www.kuluttajaneuvonta.fi). The consumer can also bring the dispute before the district court. The electronic link to the online dispute resolution forum is http://ec.europa.eu/odr.

Aviation security regulations
Hand luggage must not contain any sharp objects such as knives, nail scissors, nail files or corkscrews. You may only carry one cigarette lighter and a box of matches in your pocket. Also, liquid substances such as gels, perfumes, etc. may only be brought into the plane as hand luggage to a limited extent. The liquids must be packed in a 1-liter transparent and resealable plastic bag (minigrip) and each liquid must be in a maximum 100 ml package. Each passenger may bring max. a one-liter bag (minigrip) on the plane as hand luggage. More information www.ilmailuhallinto.fi and airlines.

Medicines and aids on the trip, as well as mobility restrictions
The authorities recommend that travelers take at least one of the following documents with them on their trip:
– patient instructions printed by the doctor, which lists all medications prescribed to the patient at the same time.
– a signed summary printout in English, i.e. a copy of the electronic prescriptions, obtained from the pharmacy or the prescriber. You can print a copy of medicines that have been bought from a pharmacy.
– a summary of prescriptions in English, which you can request from a pharmacy or health care or print yourself from your country’s electronic healthbase. If necessary, it’s a good idea to ask for a copy in English from e.g. a healthcare professional or a pharmacy.

Medicines (and prescriptions) should be packed in hand luggage in their original packaging.

We also ask that you inform the group collector well in advance of possible mobility restrictions, so that we can take them into account in the arrangements as far as possible. Aids on the trip: it is good to also take into account the personal aids you bring with you on the trip, as well as various devices and prostheses on the body, which may cause an alarm during the security check.

Special diets
We also ask that you notify the group collector well in advance of any special dietary needs, so that we can take them into account in the arrangements as far as possible. The possibilities for implementing special diets may be limited in some locations.
