Day 1 | Thursday | Welcome to Saariselkä

Arrival to Ivalo airport (IVL), the flight arrangements by your own. If you need any help with flights, we are happy to help you! Meet & Greet and transfer to your accommodation in Saariselkä, check-in.

Are you dreaming of catching Aurora Borealis? It’s time to hop on a bus and head towards the areas where the chances of seeing the northern lights are at the highest. With clear sky and little luck, we may get to see them dancing in the sky! On our way the guide will take photos of us which we get as a memory, and he can give night-time photographing tips for those travelling with own cameras. In between we enjoy hot drinks and gingerbread cookies while observing the sky.
Departure: 19:30 until 28.2.2025 20:30 starting from 1.3.2025
Includes: Bus, driving around 150 km to the best aurora spots, hot drinks from thermos with gingerbread cookies, photographing and online link access to the photos, guiding in English.

Day 5 | Monday | Farewell

Breakfast at hotel and transfer from the hotel to Ivalo airport.

Scenic Snowmobile Safari 2 h 
Brilliant opportunity to master the art of driving a snowmobile and marvel the beautiful northern scenery. After driving instructions, we will head towards the nature and drive over the hills and fells of Saariselkä area. In the middle we stop for a break to enjoy hot drinks and the silent nature surrounding us.
Departure: 10:00 Monday or Saturday
Price: 125 €/adult, 94 €/child 4–14 years. Notice: Not suitable for infants 0–3 years old.
Includes: Winter clothing, snowmobile instructions and snowmobile safari 2 persons/snowmobile, driving time approx. 1,5 hours, hot drinks with biscuits, guiding in English.

Traditional Reindeer Safari 2,5 h
Come and experience the white nature from comfort of a reindeer sleigh! We get seated in a sleigh pulled by reindeer and start heading towards the snowy forest – what a wonderful opportunity to relax, take photos and listen the silence of nature. After the sleigh ride we return to the reindeer farm to hear stories of reindeer herding and enjoy hot drinks.
Departure: morning start. Operated:  Friday or Sunday
Price: 152 €/adult, 114 €/child 3–12 years
Includes: Transfers, winter clothing, visit to reindeer farm, reindeer sleigh ride of approx. 45 min, hot drinks, guiding in English.

Scenic Snowshoe Safari 2,5 h
Join us for daylight snowshoe experience in beautiful landscapes of Northern Finland. Our guide will instruct how to use the snowshoes and lead us to the nature walking paths. Test your skills and step into the deep snow! Upon taking a break, we will enjoy hot chocolate and marshmallows served by our guide.
Departure: 10:30. Operated: Friday
Price: 78 €/adult, 58,50 €/child 12–14 years. Not suitable for children under 12 years old.
Includes: Winter clothing, pair of snowshoes, hot chocolate with marshmallows, guiding in English.

Cancelation conditions

Free cancellation is not possible after prepayment. We recommend that all participants have personal travel insurance valid for the entire duration of the trip, including cancellation coverage.

We reserve the rights to possible price, schedule and program changes. We also reserve the right to a price check for reasons beyond Kon-Tiki Tours’ control, e.g. when the exchange rate, fuel, official or flight tax costs increase.

The responsible tour operator is Finnish Oy Kon-Tiki Tours Ltd, which is included in the tour operator register maintained by the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (1929/00/Mj Mv) in compliance with all general travel conditions in the tourism industry. Due to the special nature of our trips, exceptional regulations regarding the mode of transport (e.g. reservation and sales conditions for scheduled flights), exceptional accommodation conditions and the special conditions of the travel destination, we also apply special conditions, which the customer receives as an attachment to the trip invoice.
